Automated Inspection
for Any Production Site
Stable and Accurate Inspection with Simple Operation
This is the ideal inspection machine conceived by us, having observed manufacturing sites for over 40 years.
It is a high-level fusion of being “easy,” “precise,” and “stable.”
Lacking any of these qualities will hinder production on the shop floor.
GYRO SCAN is the inspection machine designed to maximize site efficiency and elevate production quality to the absolute limit.
Inspection Application Examples (Automotive Products)
In the automotive products sector, it can automatically inspect the inner cylindrical surfaces of valve bodies, master cylinders, pistons, and more.
Other products can also be inspected easily, precisely, and stably in the exact same way.

An inspection machine is meaningless if it cannot be utilized on-site.

Evolving Drilled Hole Surface Inspection from Visual to Automated
Using GYRO SCAN is extremely simple: just set it up so that the cylindrical inspection probe goes inside the target workpiece. After that, the inspection probe automatically adjusts the focal length, rotates while emitting a laser, and detects whether there are internal defects, allowing for highly reproducible defect inspection.
Laser Scanning Method
The inspection is performed by rotating the laser beam circumferentially. It moves with each rotation to inspect the entire inner surface. Because it uses a microscopic laser beam spot for inspection, it provides excellent resolution. After that, the inspection probe automatically adjusts the focal length, rotates while emitting a laser, and detects whether there are internal defects, allowing for highly reproducible defect inspection.
-
Set the workpiece. -
Insert the laser probe into the center of the workpiece while rotating it. -
The laser probe returns to its original position. -
A developed image of the inner cylinder surface is displayed, and image processing determines an OK/NG result.

Minimum Detection Size φ0.05mm “High-Speed Scanning Despite High Precision“
An Inspection Machine for the Site, Usable on the Production Floor
Thanks to high-speed rotation of 16,000 rpm, it achieves an inspection scan in less than half the time of conventional models. Given the same scanning time as older models, it can perform inspections with more than double the high definition. In addition, because the inspection targets the “condition” rather than the “color” of the surface, it is less susceptible to changes in hue caused by cleaning marks, color unevenness, or lot differences.

* The graph above shows scanning time. Actual inspection requires additional time for the vertical movement of the laser probe and external signal response.
The probe features a design where only the mirror rotates. By keeping the optical systems other than the mirror stationary, it ensures not only stable inspections but also excellent durability. In the unlikely event that the probe breaks, repairs may only require replacing the mirror unit, significantly reducing repair costs.
Variable Focus Type Probe
GYRO SCAN uses a variable focus type probe. Therefore, it always acquires clear, precisely focused data, allowing it to detect minute defects as small as φ0.05mm. Furthermore, even if a single workpiece has multiple inspection areas with varying diameters, it can inspect them using the same probe. * Patented (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2010-145283 Inspection Head for Surface Inspection Apparatus)

“Always the Same Inspection Result“
Laser System Rather Than Camera System
Unlike camera systems that measure information by the surface, the GYRO SCAN’s laser system measures point by point. Because it classifies direct data into 256 gradations rather than using secondary values, the inspection criteria can be clearly defined. As a result, comparative calculations become highly accurate, enabling better reproducibility and a reduction in over-detection. Also, unlike camera systems that require a light source to make scratches or blowholes stand out, the laser system needs no external light source. This makes installation simple and provides excellent reproducibility as it remains unaffected by the surrounding environment.
Easy-to-Use Inspection Screen
The inspection screen combines various algorithms to detect scratches, blowholes, etc. By conducting average comparisons with non-defective parts using 256 color gradations, it detects defective areas, makes comprehensive judgments based on their size and density, and decides whether the workpiece is OK or NG. Because multiple inspection logics can be used simultaneously within the same area, thorough inspections covering a variety of patterns are possible.

Built-In Actuator
GYRO SCAN has a built-in actuator that drives the probe. There is no need to move the GYRO SCAN unit itself for inspection; you can perform the inspection simply by placing the workpiece in a fixed position. This makes it extremely easy to incorporate into conveyance equipment. Additionally, since the drive system and measurement system are pre-integrated, accurate and highly reproducible inspections are always guaranteed.
